Supratim Adhikari from The Australian interviewed Xinja and Neobank pioneer Brett King who is joining Xinja as board adviser.
Supratim points out that Brett King was dubbed the ‘grandfather’ of Neobanks having founded Moven, the first bank to launch a bank account that fully onboarded in a mobile app. King went on to become an adviser to the Obama Whitehouse and bestselling author of the Bank2.0 to Bank 4.0 series.
King pointed out that Australia has been late to the party due to the lack of capital and regulatory clarity, but the Neobank movement is not a ‘fad”.
““WeBank has the same retail base and size as JP Morgan Chase, so this is real.”.”
– Brett King
King also highlighted that what neobanks need internally to succeed is diversity of thought, and Xinja has this “in spades”.
“The thing that attracted me to Xinja is that the team is more diverse, you have people with very strong design background and people from different walks of life working here.” – Brett King
