Secret lives of Xinjas: XinjaNic & XinjaNat

We think it’s important to really get to know our xinja work comrades; unpack what they’re really into – as you never know where that hobby might come in handy when you’re designing and building a bank.

In this series, we bring you the secret lives of Xinjas; an exploration of what rocks their world. We introduce this fresh duo #xinjaNic Nicole and #xinjaNat Nathalie.

What are you most proud of working at Xinja? “Helping Xinja get the banking license and launch a product to market! – #xinjaNic

What is your Xinja name and what do you do at Xinja?

Nathalie: #XinjaNat – I look after relationships with our fabulous technology partners.

Nicole: #XinjaNic – Whatever is required to get us operating like a real bank.

What are you most proud of working at Xinja?

Nathalie: Building something amazing with some incredibly smart humans.

Nicole: Helping Xinja get the banking license and launch a product to market!

We hire Xinjas with a voracious learning mindset. What is the latest thing you’ve read, heard or seen that blew your mind?

Nathalie:  I’ve been getting into philosophy lately – I’m trying to use the Socratic method in day to day life to explore ideas and uncover assumptions. It’s driving my kids insane.

Nicole:  I’ve just finished reading Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. The whole book was eye-opening!

What future technology or trend excites you the most?

Nathalie: I can’t wait for my car to drive me home.

Nicole:  Anything that makes my life easier and more convenient.

How would you describe your relationship with money?

Nathalie: Lots of opportunity for improvement!

Nicole: Look for the best deal, ask if you really need it, and save as much as you can for a rainy day.

Confession time – what do you waste money on?

Nathalie: Shoes and Cheese.

Nicole:  Books and skin care products.

Halo time – what’s the best thing you’ve spent money on?

Nathalie:  Holidays and micro- finance organisations like Good Return

Nicole:  Travelling – I always learn so much from experiencing different places and cultures

If you weren’t at Xinja, what would you be doing?

Nathalie:  Trying to figure out what to do with my life

Nicole:  No idea! Hopefully some place where I can make a difference.

Weekend hobby: “…Being a taxi driver for my kids, or diving, hula-hooping, eating or reading – #xinjaNat

What is your weekend hobby

Nathalie:  Being a taxi driver for my kids, or diving, hula-hooping, eating or reading (weather dependant!)

Nicole:  Does catching up on sleep count? Otherwise it’s watching movies or tv shows/dramas, reading or something arts and crafts.

If you were to get a tattoo, what would it say or what would the image be?

Nathalie: I already have some 😉

Nicole: Something small and minimalist.
