It’s exciting times here at Xinja – we’ve launched our prepaid card and our app is now in the App Store! So now seems like the perfect time to pay tribute to the wonderful people at London-based software consultancy Equal Experts, who have been helping to train all those clever little Xinjas that live inside of our shiny new app! They’ve been working alongside us since the very beginning, lending us their expertise every step of the way and working closely in particular with #appyxinja – bolstering our development capability and helping us get off to a great start..
A few of their leading experts recently joined us in Sydney to help us with the rollout of our very first batch of cards and to celebrate with us as we tested them at a local Sydney bar. We spoke to Duncan, Bethan and Nick (pictured above L-R), as well as Antonio (who couldn’t be there in person) about their company, their work with Xinja and how they took one of our cards on it’s very first trip overseas.
We pride ourselves on helping to solve really interesting problems and building good quality software with our clients
What does Equal Experts do and what are your roles within the company?
Equal Experts is a network of experienced software consultants that specialises in agile delivery. We pride ourselves on helping to solve really interesting problems and building good quality software with our clients.
I am a Delivery Manager with Equal Experts, specialising in large scale agile delivery and building that up from inception. I am also responsible for setting up Equal Experts Australia and am looking forward to moving out to Sydney in the very near future.
I am a Partner at Equal Experts and have been in the network now for 10 Years. My role is a technical lead/architect and I specialise in the building of large scale microservice platforms. I enjoy bringing around change and transforming organisations focusing on tech as the enabler to solve real people problems.
I am a Software Developer and have been with Equal Experts for 5 years, most of my experience within Equal Experts is building platforms to support mobile apps and digital channels.
Antonio (not pictured):
I am a Software Developer and have been with Equal Experts for 2 years. I have spent a lot of my time in Equal Experts working with clients who are working on a digital first approach. Unfortunately I am much more comfortable writing software than I am flying in a tin can for 24 hours (so that’s why I am not in the picture)!
Tell us about your involvement with the launch of Xinja
Duncan: We have been helping to build the platform and infrastructure that sits behind the app that you see. We wanted to deliver a platform that allows Xinja to be able to react quickly to customer needs, so we designed our platform in a way that allows new features to be delivered continuously. We work closely with our partner in Canada, Robots and Pencils, who have been designing and build the mobile app itself with Xinja.
I am most looking forward to seeing some of the innovation prototypes I have been working on
What is your proudest achievement so far in working on the app and what are you most looking forward to?
My proudest achievement so far has been being involved from the very beginning when this was a prototype to actually seeing real customers use it. I am most looking forward to seeing some of the innovation prototypes I have been working on …..ooohhh mystery!
On returning back to the UK we took the Xinja card for a spin around the local London sights…and washing that all down with a good British pint of ale!
What was the first purchase you made with your Xinja card?
Bethan: Our first purchase in Sydney was a koala to bring back to the office. However on returning back to the UK we took the Xinja card for a spin around the local London sights, obviously taking the London Underground to Bank Station and then visiting London’s famous bridge (Tower Bridge) and washing that all down with a good British pint of ale.
Whilst we were enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and sunsets, our family at home were putting up with the Beast from the East!
You were recently working out of Xinja’s Sydney HQ. Did you get a chance to see much of our beautiful city and beaches? Or given that it was launch week, was it all work work work?
Yeah we managed to get out and take a swim in Bondi and Coogee’s ocean pools in the evenings. Whilst we were enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and sunsets, our family at home were putting up with the Beast from the East snow storm. I don’t think my pictures home went down well.
