Know your Xinjas: Kim Fitton

Kim Fitton -#hustlerxinja – is one of the brains behind the home loans customer experience we are creating. As well as being a great business analysts, she also has a side hustle in baking – we love her for both..

I’m the unofficial Xinja snack curator, office baker and Atlassian admin.

Tell us what you do at Xinja

My official role is Lead Business Analyst for Home Loans, and I do anything from research and design through to delivery. But on top of that I’ve just picked up a whole bunch of extra responsibilities (RADI licensing documents, design work and research and setting up ways of working)!  I’m the unofficial Xinja snack curator, office baker and Atlassian admin. Every day I’m doing something different 🙂

What is your Xinja origin story (how did you get here)?

My journey to Xinja was a bit of a crazy one. I followed Xinja from the start, and invested in the crowdfunding round (after stalking all of the founders on LinkedIn and deciding they were good people).  As soon as I saw they were looking for a BA I got in touch, and 4 weeks later I packed up my life in Melbourne and made the big move to Sydney. It’s been a whirlwind so far!

What does a typical day look like for you?

I’m on the Home Loans team with Matt (aka FixerXinja), and we’re currently working on about 14 separate projects concurrently. We’ve got really complementary skill sets and working styles, so we learn a lot from each other. Most mornings start with the gym and coffee to get me ready! Then we kick off with stand-up and prioritise our tasks for the day.  It’s pretty dynamic, and I do everything from research and design work all the way through to testing.

What are you most proud of working with Xinja?

I am super proud to work at Xinja because I know that every single person I work with has the same mission – building a bank that is truly about our customers, serving their best interests.

What have you learned in your time working at Xinja?

I’ve learned a lot about home loans in general.  They’re incredibly complex, but building it out end to end has been a great learning experience for me.

What are you most looking forward to in the coming months?

Delivering something beautiful, fun and meaningful!  And watching Xinja grow. It’s such an exciting time to be part of the team.

What technology are you most excited about?

I’m pretty excited to see adoption of voice + AI in smart homes. There’s a real opportunity to apply technology to assisted living and aged care.  My Nan is 90 and super tech savvy…. She’s probably getting an Echo for Christmas this year!

If you weren’t at Xinja, what would you be doing?

TBH I’d still be working at one of the big banks, bored out of my mind, planning my overseas escape!

List 3 words to describe Xinja?

Dynamic, energetic, authentic

What is your Spirit Animal?

Probably a penguin – super loyal and very pro-equality.

Weekend hobby:

I love cooking, you’ll find me in the kitchen most weekends.  Which makes me very popular around morning tea time at work!

Unexpected fact:

I hate maltesers, they’re just not enjoyable (…I know it’s controversial).
